Welcome to Primary Four and Five. Our teacher is Mrs Morrison and Janice & Marian are our classroom assistants. All year round we use programmes such as Accelerated Reader, Nessy, Stareway to Spelling and Toe by Toe to enhance and support our children's literacy skills and needs.
In our classroom this term we will be learning about:
Term 2
The Weather!
This term we will be learning more about our weather. How is rain made? What makes snow? We hope to learn more about different types of weather and we will collect data from our own weather station!
Numeracy
In primary 4 this term we will have a huge focus in learning all about multiplication! We will spend lots of time using practical materials to help us understand that multiplication is really a quick way of adding!
Primary 5 will spend time learning more about fractions and will be introduced to decimals for the first time!
As always we will continue on with our problem solving lessons on a Friday and we hope to learn a little more about angles as part of our shape topic.
Literacy
This term we will all be focusing on contractions and where to place the apostrophe!
Primary 4 will consolidate their knowledge of nouns, verbs and adjectives while Primary 5 will be introduced to adverbs!
As part of our topic we will be writing about the weather and we hope to create our very own weather forecast reports!
TERM 1
Topic - ME!
Throughout our topic this term we will look at the human body. We will learn about our skeletons, organs and teeth and think about our emotions.
Numeracy
In Primary 4 we will read, write and order numbers up to at least 1000 and in primary 5 we will stretch right on up to 99999!
Primary 4 will learn how to takeaway with HTU while exchanging (decomposition) while Primary 5 grasp the hold of division!
Both year groups will also study a variety of different graphs as part of their data handling topic and later they will study 3D & 2D shape.
Every Friday we use the SPEAR programme to develop our children's problem solving skills.
Literacy
In literacy we will revise and consolidate nouns, verbs and adjectives.
We will learn about manifestos, recounts, instructional writing and non-chronological reports.
